My company will soon transfer me to Martinez.

So far I have been recommended to live in Fairfield or in Brentwood.

I like the houses and areas but I am concerned about the commute to Martinez. Which commute is better and what am I looking at as travel time?

As for my wife she will need to work, is the market better in Fairfield or Brentwood?

Thank you

You didn't mention what your housing budget is, whether you're going to rent or buy..but I would look into Benicia, Pleasant Hill, or even Martinez first. All a little closer than the other towns. FYI, West Fairfield (west of the I-80 freeway) is much preferable to the rest of Fairfield. As for jobs, you didn't mention what your wife does..all of California is extremely bad for jobs right now.

Why would people recommend you live way out in Fairfield or Brentwood to work in Martinez? Pleasant Hill, Concord, Walnut Creek, Pacheco, all close to Martinez and are nice area's.
