Wow, old thread! Berkeley is known for that actually. I'm only just now beginning to understand this whole "freeze" thing as it's mentioned all the time about Seattle. Having grown up in Berkeley, it just seemed normal to me.

you guys are all helping me because i actually want to move to Cali . But I dont know whether to go to Northern cali or Southern cali . I always wanted to go to LA but i really dont know. helppp !!

It is by far, a better place for a professional who is working in the technology industry to live. The quality of life is much better here in Northern California than in Southern California. The unemployment rates should provide some validation to this.

If you have a penchant for calling it "Cali", L.A. would probably present as the optimum choice.

The only Cali I know of is in Columbia.

LOL...Sorry, I just never thought I'd see that restaurant name again! I found that place way nasty, even by SD Thai standards (which are pretty low to begin with.) But to each his/her own.

If the state was split in two around monterey, norcal would still be a donor state and so cal would be a welfare state dependent upon the federal government.

As it stands they just mooch of those of us who work hard in the bay area. Where per capita income is obviously much higher

The young people refer to California as "Cali" and it drives me nuts but if that is what rocks their boat, so be it.
