Hello all, I am coming to the end of my enlistment in the Air Force and looking to relocate to California when I am done. I am going to be returning to school for radiology tech so I am looking for an area with a decent school and hospital.

I dont like big cities. I love the outdoors...snowboarding, rafting and camping. Being near the coast is not a big deal for me but I wouldnt mind it. I like all seasons, but prefer cooler weather. I would like to be in/near mountains. Cost is not a huge deal. Near Yosemite would be awesome but I dont know if towns near there have a good sized hospital or not.

Thank you all for helping me out! Looking forward to researching your suggestions!

You should post this topic in the international forum since you're moving to Cali, Colombia, the cocaine capital of the world.

Default Here's Your Town!

I lived in Valencia and it's about a 45 minute drive to LA.
Skiing and snowboarding in Wrightwood is about 30 minutes. Then there's Vegas Baby! A few hours away. Moon Handbooks has the best local guides by area(Better than Frommers). And you'll have to become a fan of In N Out. Have an Animal for me!

I'm speechless. It's a lucky thing that my fingers are not paralyzed.

Welcome!

You may want to check out Bishop California.

If you're into the outdoors, love four seasons, hate the rat race, and require a hospital to work at, Bishop fits the bill pretty well.

The only downside I can think of is the isolation from major cities if shopping is a concern (e.g. you have a wife or gf). The town does have the necessities, but lacks the big box stores.

Bishop seems to fit your recreational needs, but there's no colleges in that area to meet your needs.

There's also Rancho Cucamonga with Chaffey College's radiology tech program and the nearby San Gabriel and San Gorgonio mountains to snowboard and whatnot.
As far as calling it Cali, I don't think anyone's going to start WW3 on the streets over it.
Not as badly as myself using NoCal over NorCal.
But that's another story not worth revisiting.
