What do most of you do for local transportation when staying over and hooked up: tow a small car, carry (as on a rack) a tiny or "Smart" type car, use bikes/mopeds, or unhook and drive your rigs?
It depends on your travel life style. If you don't travel, trailers or Class A with toad would be a better choice. We never stayed in one place longer than couple days. So we prefer short class C or light trailer. We can just keep pushing on. No need to go back to retrieve anything.

Why would the Class A or TT be "a much better choice" if I don't travel much?
It depends on the definition of your "travel much". There are lots of places Class A and towing can not get in.
So you will need to park, un-towed and drive into those places with cars or tow trucks. Then come back and tow them to your next destinations. Or just skip. I found out later that if I skip, I will never go back to check them out.
If I am using short class C or class B or car with lite trailer(short), I can drive into those places and come out without issue. Any large pickups/cars can get into those places, I should be able to get in.

It’s ounds like by travel, you mean camping in state and national parks.
I’ve stayed in state and national parks with my rig, not all but some. And I’ve never seen a private park that couldn’t accommodate me. Some that won’t take anything but class A’s though.

For example, just got back from 8000+ miles trip visiting the northernmost and the southernmost points on US mainland with a 2007 4Runner.
We decided not to tow a box trailer, because we want to finish the trip before storms(bad weather).
Lots of good motels/hotels and also bad motels/hotels.
Use trust worthy 4Runner, because we towed trailer to Canada Arctic and back without any problems.
We didn't spend lots of time in parks/campgrounds last Arctic trip. They are not our destinations. We want to see and experience something unique and amazing.
I am sharing my experience, you are not required to follow.
