Any of you been to Europe? You really think all those folks have been enslaved by the corporations?

An economic union with Canada is a piece of cake. Mexico is tougher. But it would make very good sense to get on with it for little things like security.

I would think the US and Canada could get the Mexican economy in shape for a union in less than 20 years. Or they could go ahead and do the union and fix Mexico later. Note that the EU has apparently managed to solve problems at least as big as Mexico.

All you need is the desire to make things better and it flows out.
I hope you aren't in any non-college field. If we join mexico the floodgates will open and anything that dosen't require a college degree will drop in wages.

Keep universal health care and we will adopt the SI Metric system.

You will have to adopt the U.S. Dollar but we will get rid of the $1 bill and replace it with the Dollar Coin that you can call a loonie and abolish the $2 bill and make a Toonie ($2) or Quarter-Eagle ($2.50) with Dr. Martin Luther King on it--should it be worth $2 or $2.50?

Hello. I used to live in the US but now I live in England. As you know, we are part of the EU. This has not been a good thing for England because now immigrants from all over Europe, but mostly very poor countries have flooded into the UK and are claiming benefits and generally making a small country overcrowded. Before I moved to the US in 92, it was rare to see people of different nationalities in my hometown. Now walking down the street, about half of the people I hear aren't speaking English. People say diversity is a good thing, but it makes it more difficult to meet people as people generally want to stick to their own kind, and the already stuffy English are now ruder and more reserved than ever before.

Anyone who thinks that this isn't already de-facto happening already doesn't get out much.

All of the power grids, pipelines and systems are already interconnected. Canada and the US are the worlds largest trading partners by a country mile. Basically Canada is the US's resource attic. Of course the Chinese aren't letting go easily, as they are buying up a large number of resource companies to ensure they maintain a foothold in the largest oil deposits in the world outside Saudi Arabia. Ironically all that money comes from the US trade deficit with China.

It is very easy to service Canada because most of the population is along the border with the United States. Canada is like the deliveries hallway of the shopping mall with each city the back door to the store.

The telephone system is interconnected because of the North American Numbering Plan in 1947, the pipelines have to go through Canada to service the 'Lower 48.' Ever since Alaska has been part of the U.S., there has been a need for an overland route to bring goods to Alaska from the 'Lower 48.' Without Alaska, Canada and the U.S. might ignore each other.
