Canadian to work in Las Vegas (2015, apartment, crime)

Hi, i am canadian and i want to be able to work in las vegas. I already have a place to stay there (my friend's). I am only 22 years old and i have a couple of questions.

1. What kind of visa do i need to work in Las Vegas?
2. Do i need to be employed by a company in Las Vegas to be able for me to work there?
3. What kind of documents do i need to work in Las Vegas and where do I submit this to?
4. How long does this process take?

Any more information that could help would be GREATLY appreciated. I am planning to work in Las Vegas by early next year.

do a google search for NAFTA visa.. Im not an expert but I believe if you get a job offer, you go back to the border to US customs and apply for it..

I am not trying to discourage you or scare you. But you should probably stay in Canada right now.
I live in Las Vegas
1. The Casinos are laying off more and more people every day
2. The Unemployment rate is about 10 % right now.
3. The crime is very high from what you are used to in Canada
4. The Cost of Living is high in respect to what the companies pay you
One Bedroom apartment any where from $600-1000 a month plus all the utilities(Electric,Gas,water,sewage)
5. The traffic is a horrible(sat on the freeway for one hour to get 5 miles)
6. The transit system is a big joke
7. It get to like 100-115 F in the the summers(thats in the 40's C)

You would have to go through the process of immigrating to the USA then move to Las Vegas. Then go online and apply for all the major companies. Look up the Las Vegas Review Journal,careerbuilder.com and monster.com for jobs in Las Vegas.
You must have very thick skin to make it in this city and a lot of patience.
Las Vegas is not the glitz and glamour that you see on tv or movies and if you visit here the strip is not the only part of the city. It has Slums and nice areas. The population is close to 2 million or slightly over. We have out dated roads that do not accommodate the amount of traffic that is on them.

Like I said I am not trying to discourage you, But maybe you should wait till the economy in the US gets better and people start coming back to Las Vegas for vacations

You can research the NAFTA agreement but in your case I don't think this applies.

You can VISIT the US for up to six months for education and as a general visitor but in order to work anywhere in the US you're required to obtain legal immigrant status which takes a long time to process. If you come in as a visitor sans official status it's (a) unlikely you'll be hired as the penalties for hiring illegal immigrants are very stiff and (b) if someone does employ you illegally and you are caught, you will be banned from ever again entering the US.

Time to do your research through the proper authorities and you can find all the information you need online. Josh1985 is, I'm sure, absolutely correct in his estimation of the job market in LV as it's the same situation pretty much all over the US.

I think you'll find that this isn't going to work for you period. Sorry!

i would love to live in the vegas area (i.e. henderson) for at about 6 months to a year.

i am fortunate to be able to work virtually, so, finding work in vegas would be a moot point.

- The Crime is Very High than what we are used to in Canada, There was a gun related offense every day according to Toronto Police in the City of Toronto where I live, 2015 statistics, let alone all the muggings, assaults, thefts.
- The Cost of Living is High, Toronto is one of the most expensive cities to live in ...in North America, One Bedrooms are going at 1400, 1600, 1800 in :BAD neighborhoods. PLUS UTILITIES, Damage deposit, and first and last, and credit check...and cosigners. And we are making peanuts for money here.
- The Transit system is a joke...THE 401 is one of the LARGEST IN NORTH AMERICA>>>people sit on there...for an hour..and do not move! ..at times.
- We HAVE 6 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE GTA...PLEASE...JUMP OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE .....PAL.
