Good luck to them and it's not the first movement like that, but it would make more sense for Quebec to just become independent at some point if they don't want to be part of Canada. This never seems to end and realistically it probably never will until they do separate.
A fringe political movement can be used as a foot in the door when heads of state look at resources. Russia has a huge head start on tapping Arctic oil. Gaining some northern territory may be in the US military's agenda. Quebec has some oil and ng of its own, so it could be let in as slightly more than just a stepping stone to a bigger prize.
In a FPTP system though will they get enough ridings to make a difference?
I think most Americans would agree with me in saying, No Than you. We have way to many problems and we cannot afford another. No different than Canadians not wanting our troublesome wayward California, no one wants thier neighbors trouble added to thier own, not even a good friendly neighbor like the US and Canada are to each other.
Quebec folks aught to learn to be thankful they are Canadian and take some pride in it. Independence for Quebec would make them weak and poor. Canada would be just fine without them, while Quebec would not thrive on its own. Not much chance the us would accept them either, not do I understand why anyone in Quebec would leave one anglophone nation to join another. Makes no sense.

And that's exactly why it remains at tiny fringe movement. It makes no sense.
So the previous party that wanted to annex Quebec to the U.S. was founded in 1989.
They ran candidates in the election that year, and got 0.11% of the vote overall.
In the 11 ridings (out of about 125) where they ran candidates, none of them got more than 2% of the vote.
Interestingly enough, most of the ridings they targeted are ridings with decent-sized anglophone populations. Though judging from their names it seems all of their candidates were francophones.
Quebec would be the LAST Canadian province to join the US, if anything at all. It is like Catalonia breaks away and joins France, what illogical thinking.

Talking about joining the U.S. for Quebec is like a geeky married guy talking about sleeping with Angelina Jolie. It ain't gonna happen for any number of reasons so there's no danger in speculating about it, even if it's all idle chatter.
