We are thinking of moving to Canada but at the moment are just looking into the cost of living over there, compared to living in England (or Portugal where we are at the moment). Can someone tell us how the cost of car insurance compares. Also, we have a 'classic' car we'd like to import... is it worth taking it over or are the costs too high? And what about road tax? Thanks!
Automobile insurance requirements differ from province to province, so rates will also differ.
Rates will also be much higher in urban areas as compared to rural areas. Driving records, number of drivers, type of care, etc also can drasticly affect rates.
Not sure what you mean by "road tax". Each vehicle must have an annual validation sticker for its licence plate. Other than that, the only "road taxes" are well hidden in fuel prices.
