I work as a copywriter and copy-editor, as well as a social media/community manager. Personally, my writing, editing, and typing skills are nowhere near where they were before I went through chemo. My chemo brain and neuropathy have gotten a bit better, but there is still a marked difference between how I write now than how I wrote then. Grammar takes a lot more concentration, words come out out of order, typos are much more common, and I have a harder time proofing. This is not uncommon for cancer survivors.

Some appreciation and respect seems to be in order here.

Well I'm a kidney cancer survivor. In the future if any cancer returns I am not a good candidate for chemo or radiation as it would totally destroy the remaining kidney function I have left, which is not a lot. I need a transplant and after that I would have to take meds that lower my immune system. Both my parents died from cancer. I am now 59 years old and had my cancer op almost 3 years ago. The doctor told me I would be cancer free for at least 5 years and if something came up we would just operate and remove it. None of this gave me a good feeling but I have to live with what I have to live with. I tell people, includng my wife and children, that I have had a great life with not many regrets especially with all of them. It is what it is. I know I don't want any bad news in the future. I mostly put it out of my mind especially when I am alone at night because that's when paranoia sets in and that just takes more out of me. Just live as normal a life as you can and live happily each day.
