I have no idea if that is similar to what they mean for your husband but that is what they told me.

Good luck.
Sorry to hear this, Germaine. Good luck. Many positive thoughts will be coming your way.

you should celebrate a hundred times over. I know what a great feeling that is: hubby has a complete body scan once a year: we just wait for the results with fingers crossed. SO far the last 3 have come back cancer free. Actually one more and we won't have to have any more.

"Cancer Free" two words I would love to hear. We heard the bell ring two times while he was receiving chemo this week, he said "think I will ever get to ring the bell?" I hope we all get to ring the bell.

It is a goal to strive for. It is hope. Before starting chemotherapy my oncologist told me to picture myself on a beach somewhere drinking a drink with a goofy umbrella in it and cancer being a forgotten memory.

A dozen years later, here I am.

This is a great thought. Think we will try it.

You can't ignore the elephant that's in you. However, find something to keep your mind going, reading or a hobby or planning an adventure. It is a distraction.

I'm so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I'm sending prayers your way.

My husband is currently battling stage 4 melanoma. He unfortunately, is not well at this time. He has numerous other issues as well, like diabetes and prostrate cancer. He is receiving immunotherapy, second one, because the first one didn't work. He also had numerous surgeries in his neck (original site), but it has returned there once again. The prostrate cancer is being treated with hormones to "keep it quite" until the melanoma gets under control.

I'm telling you all this to say that with all this, we were never given discouraging news, even though it certainly sounds discouraging. THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE, and every doctor we encountered reflected that. I believe your doctor should have chosen his words more wisely.

We are lucky to be close Sloan Kettering in NYC, and they are remarkable, both in their bedside manner, and their care. I'm not sure if you ever heard of that hospital but it's hugh.

Please have hope and don't let those doctors words discourage you. I've heard of countless stories of remission when the odds weren't good.

Please be well, and rest assured I will add you and your husband to my prayer list.
