Yay! Now you can finally relax and get some rest, and Whispers can integrate more fully and easily with the other boys...I'm so glad everything went well and the casualties were minimal!
I'm up and hungry. Whispers is not coming out from his hammock, but that's OK. As long as I can coax him out around 5pm to get him fed and give him his Buprenex.
You guys are the best. Neutering to some of you may mean oh no biggie, but when it comes to a special needs feral kitty, it is a big deal.
And yep, he has his little "peanuts" still, with a little less oomph to them. (smile)
Karma did have to have HIS say. He just now went over to the bed, stuck his nose in the "hammock" and reared back and HISSED. Poor Whisps. He smells funny. Give him a break, Karm!
Now, just waiting for the blood results.....will let you know when I do.
Again, the support shown me has been phenomenal! I am so touched. And I thank each one of you for being a part of such a big day in Whispers' life!
His "peanuts" will probably shrink some, now that there's nothing inside them. Also don't be surprised if he doesn't show much interest in food today, but do see if he'll take a couple sips of water if he chooses not to eat.
Glad to know YOU made it! I had no doubt about Whispers
Just got off the phone with our vet. And exactly what I suspected is true. He is FIV+. Leuk-. Plus, I believe him to be a FLUTD. All other bloods normal except for glucose which was high, but she is attributing that to stress. It just really hit home. My baby is FIV+. Hence, his gum problems that have started already.
That's about it. Now I know for sure what I am working with and I will just continue with my treatment for his back legs. Yes, my vet noticed them also, but at this point, medical intervention is not necessary. She encouraged me to continue with my alternative treatments. Hmmmm.....Imagine that! I am gaining ground!
Garden, I'm sorry the bloodwork wasn't better news but at least now, as you said, you know what you're dealing with. It's good you have the backing of your vet! God bless you for helping these cats.
At least now you know, and can move forward accordingly. It's not the best news, but there's plenty that can be done to give Whispers a happy and healthy life!

When Cookie came back home after her spay, and after she'd healed for a few days in her own little kitty spa we set up in the spare bedroom, Checkers reared up and knocked her over. What a brat!
