As a lifelong cat "person" this story just tore my heart out before it save it......

Cat survives 2 euthanasia attempts at Utah shelter - Local News - Clarksburg, WV - msnbc.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45862539#.TwOhfByOZLt - broken link)

I"ve had to put two cat friends down in my lifetime and it just rips my guts out each time. It's hard to believe how much a person can love a pet.

I have had to have a cat euthanized several times, and it was just as heartrending the last time as it was the first.

I'm glad that story had a happy ending, rather than something like "It worked the third time".

Gas chambers need to be outlawed. They are very inhumane, as others have said. I hope she doesn't suffer long-term health effects from her ordeal.

Default Cat survives shelter's gas chamber twice

She was also placed in a cooler (freezer?) when presumed dead. The link below includes a video of the story.

Well, at least the shelter finally gave up. Poor kitty. I hope she finds her forever home soon.

Being a life-long cat lover myself, I skipped the article. I don't need to be reminded that 3,000,000 cats are euthanized each year. Nevertheless, more than likely the cat survived due to the incompetence of the person who was doing the gassing.

When I had to have Ruby put to sleep, the doctor gave her a shot and left me alone with her in the room for me to say "good-bye". After about five minutes, I came out and said, "I think Ruby has died."
The vet said, "Oh, my Dear. Ruby was dead as soon as she received the shot.....". She had gone so peacefully & I had not even known.

There was no need for a frightening gas chamber. My Gosh. I did not read that article to know that it must have been terrible.
