The humane society of san bernardino is a terrific pet organization. They have seen my cats over the years for various things including putting a few of them to sleep (3). They dont charge for Euthanasia but donations are accepted. A good examination is $20.00. They did examine buddy more then the local vet. I just wish they were closer to my home. Besides yesterday the last time i was their was about 3 or so yrs ago.

I had a stomatits kitty several years ago. I looked up the old vet record for reference here is the breakdown for you. This particular surgery was June 4 2008. This was for his first set of extractions - couldn't find the bill for the second surgery though I'm sure it's similar. His blood work is not on here as it was run separately at a different time. It's $94 NOW so back then maybe around $80?

preanesthetic $25.27
Inhalation anesthesia 70 minutes $157.50
pulse Ox monitor $13.79
Convenia Injection $37.70
Buprenorphine Injection $24.50
Metacam $$17.35
Metronidazole $19
Aquadent $15.45
Dental Extractions (7) $231.56 Total bill $542.61

I adopted buddy in october 1998 (14 yrs ago). He was a yr or sold old. He was shipped to a neighbor from hawaii & the neighbor got pregnant & kicked him out. I then adopted him & hes been with me ever since. Prior to me buddy was a outdoor/indoor cat. Hes strickly indoors with me as all my cats have been. Buddy is showing his age but heres a pic of him in his younger yrs.

I was abit surprised at the price since they are a non profit organization. They also rec a felv/fiv test (aids test) for a xtra $30.00. Im going to a local vet for a 2nd opinion (office cost is $38.00). It cost me $8.00 in gas round trip to the humane society so i still have to add $8.00 just to drive their & get meds to give to cat 2 days before dental surgery + another $16.00 to drop the cat off & pick him up by 4 pm. The local vet (4 miles) may be my best bet in the long run since my car runs kind of crappy.
Actually, that bill is lower than a normal vet would charge. But, at the Humane society there may be someone that you can speak wi/ about a grant or a program that would cover your costs there. Sorry your car and expenses are so tough. Hopefully you'll get some assistance.

For this first set of extractions, what was done (looking at the cost is my reason for asking).

So, it was double for all? i.e. twice your above total?

It is crazy what many vets charge. I just didnt expect to pay $250.00 to have 3 teeth removed (1 was loose). My bro in co paid $130.00 to have 2 of his cats teeth removed. I guess everything is high in ca.

Perhaps you could work the fees off. A friend once had to kennel her dog there, and they let her work off the fees around the facility. Might be worth checking.

The question and answer are both six years old. If you read posts #5 and #6, you'll see that the OP has already had the work done and paid for it.
