I gifted my son with an indoor kitty . I knew this point would come up. IMO you can NOT let your cat go outside then think you can tell people who don't want your cat how to get rid of it!

That's why I keep mine INDOORS because I realise I can not control all the dangerous natural elements like wild animals, or people who poison pets. Or what you call ""cat hating dogs"". These so called cat hating dogs are LEGAL. So now dog lovers are supposed to not own pitbulls because your cat comes over? Lets see how well that ends for you!

Do you visit EVERY home your cat goes to to see how friendly it is? If not you are being an irresponsible cat owner!

Its okay to love your pet, but NOT at the expense of other home owners!

What's your problem? My cats are indoor cats. I think all pet (non working) cats should be indoor cats.

You're just dying for a fight here. Why?

People who use dogs, poison or guns on animals are sick people. I call them sickos. Is that the fight you are looking for? Again?

I'm not baiting people as evidenced by the post right below yours. Vergofa said she is unapologetic for her outside cats so do other members here including catmom & Purehuman, not sure how this is a bait. Can you not see the different views here

::sigh::

You're missing that many here who have outdoor cats live in rural areas or have a few acres.

Big difference.

Of course. There are plenty of safe ways to keep cats out of the yard; a simple internet search will come up with plenty of ideas.

That's not the cats' nor the cat owners' fault.

Actually, you can. The law in most places considers household pets as property. You cannot damage my property; I cannot damage yours. End of story.

I'm glad your son's cat lives indoors. So do mine. So what's the point of this thread, other than to bait cat owners?

To the person who sent me the message, our dogs like cats, we do not have poison (organic) and the outdoor cats have a cat door to a shed when they need to go inside and we do not have racoons close to the house. We have electronic, red solar lights to get predators away, because we have chickens.

You most certainly are baiting people. Go back and read your own posts. I've read several. Outdoor cats should be illegal? Give me a break. I would have a lot more respect for you if you came on this forum and laid out your position upfront, instead of making us guess after 3-4 posts. This isn't a new topic, and your attitude is not going to convince me one way or the other. If you don't like outdoor cats, if you have any, then maybe you should keep them inside?

I guess. I don't live in a rural area & yet I'm BOTHERED by outdoor cats when I have an indoor cat. Planning to have more indoor cats actually.

I do not know whose cats they belong to. I have tried all those HUMANE methods to no avail. And am at my wits end!

I called my local police department & was told that where I live, cats are classified as non restrainable animals so legally they are free to roam. So the cops told me they have no obligation to come & hunt them & pick them up. However, I was told pretty much ANYTHING is legal to get rid of them besides shooting, WITHIN my property that is.

I just wish people would keep their cats INDOORS then no more drama.

Other thing, my son has developmental issues & only likes HIS cat. I feel its too much work for me to watch him around neighbors cats I rather they are not there. At this point if he harms THEIR cats its their fault for having it here.

Its one thing to deal with a child with developmental issues & babysit him, but to babysit their pets as well, I refuse

Not everyone lives in similar circumstances. Growing up we had an indoor/outdoor cat that lived to be 22 despite skirmishes with snakes and mongeese. Presently we have an indoor cat that loves walking outdoors on a leash. I would love for him to be indoor/outdoor to deal with the rodents, but we have way too many coyotes around. My own personal opinion is it no more cruel to have a well cared for indoor/outdoor cat than an indoor cat in a very confined environment with little to occupy them. Different strokes.

Worth remembering that domestic cats were historically kept to keep rodents out of food supplies.

This cat thinks she is a dog - loves to walk with the dogs.

Panther!

Two of the outdoor cats. A "stray" mamma cat brought her kittens into our shed.

Great mousers.
