Orion sometimes grows one although we live in S FL. We figure he's either mixed with Norwegian Forest or is a pedigree and that's common for the breed.
That cat looks a bit like mine. She will grow a mane as well, but it is black with a red tone. The year she grew her mane, she also grew what I called her 'wings'. Her wings were extremely long arm pit hair, which was white.
