Sigh. Daina had just not been "right", with a decrease in appetite and brief episodes of difficulty breathing. I took her to the vet today, and her X-Rays showed inflammatory lung disease. She got a steroid shot and antibiotics just in cause the cause is infectious. Perhaps it's the medications, but she's so "mopey" this evening and had more than the usual "episodes" of difficulty breathing. I adopted her from the SPCA, so her true age is unknown, though my vet estimates her to be about 12. These changes seem to have occurred quickly, though I know cats tend to "hide" their illnesses very well. I feel so terrible. Has anyone had experience with this disease process in their cat?

Happy to say that 3 days after her treatment, Daina has improved significantly. She's not 100%, but it's a relief to see her feeling better.

Daina did a little better for awhile, but yesterday, I knew it was time. I took her to the vet and he peacefully granted her a trip to the Rainbow Bridge. I feel so very, very sad.
