Yes indeed. Grieve when you need to, but dwell more on the good memories. I've always considered it a precious gift when animal shows me affection. The grief of losing them is a small price to pay for that gift.

Wow, 18 years! That's quite a long (cat) life. He sure sounds like a lovely boy. I'm sorry for your loss (and can relate, we have a nearly-18 year old at home). In time, may the good memories overshadow the sadness.

Thanks for your kind thoughts and comments. The good memories are already filling the vacuum left by his absence. He was a special cat to me, but soon it will be time to make new feline friends.
