I just can't believe that there still is people getting shocked about these things.
I cant believe that there are a huge populus that could give a rip when it affects so many people detrimentally . I cant believe that people dont mind being completely apathetic under the guise of 'tolerance' philosophy.
Well, this is the reason why the Muslim world hates America. When I was a kid in the early 90's, Snoop Doggy Dogg was our idol. We were only ten years old listening to a former L.A. Crip member ex-felon, who was accused of first degree murder at the time, spit rhymes about sexing hoes, drinking liquor, smoking weed and shooting people. Jay-Z, one of the richest men in America, got rich rhyming stories about being a big-time NYC drug dealer and degrading women to an obscene footnote. Hip Hop, in itself, was an extremely low-budget movement that reflected the harsh socially disorganized and impoverished conditions of African American inner cities across the country in the post-Civil Rights era of Reaganomics, stagnant wages, de-industrialization of our manufacturing cities, sharp recessions every decade and the advent of crack cocaine.
America's entertainment is toxic in many different forms as well. America is the world's number one producer of pornography; another shameless all-American past-time that has engulfed the nation in the internet age. People like Jenna Jameson and Ron Jeremy would not be famous in a Muslim country. If anything, all of this signifies that America has been in decline for quiet some time now. Our perversions are no different than the gluttony, sloth and excess of ancient Rome right before their civilization collapsed into flames.
Its a cesspool of filth that most people simply enjoy and want all the more. Thats what America 'the beautiful' has become and in a relatively short amount of time ... even to the detriment of the most innocent youngest people whom we love and are supposed to be concerned about.

You could do something about it instead of whining at an internet forum.
There are bigger problems in the world.
Artists will always be around and they will always have thier foibles and hangups. Sometimes they are actually a great WARNING about what NOT to do. (See Amy Winehouse etc.)
Anyway, it's more disturbing to see all the slackjawed mouthbreathers that ruthlessly follow everything celebrity\entertainment\sports. Really, if you are out buying Snooki's new perfume you need an intervention. lol.
Elvis was immoral and rebellic fiftyfive years ago,so it's not exactly a new thing.
Oh please!
This is what Ed Sullivan had to say about Elvis and he said it live on his show.
“I wanted to say to Elvis Presley and the country that this is a real decent, fine boy, and wherever you go, Elvis, we want to say we’ve never had a pleasanter experience on our show with a big name than we’ve had with you. So now let’s have a tremendous hand for a very nice person!”
Elvis sang gospel music in all his concerts and employed gospel singers as his back up vocals.
I'm not saying he didn't have his demons, we all do but, please do a litte research before you slander.
But I guess it could be a conspiracy.

What period in American history would you consider to be a golden era that didn't have popular entertainments that were considered to be scandalous at the time? I sure can't think of any.

Ed Sullivan had to be polite to his guests, that doesn't mean the rest of America has to like Elvis.
I doubt Sullivan was a rock'n'roll fan.

No he didn't, he was big enough to snub them like he did Jim Morrison.
