Being of the same sex and a just a little older, I never had much reason to follow Mr. Cassidy's career, but I can recall one guest appearance on NBC's Police Story (c.1975) in which he portrayed a young police officer (and expectant father) working undercover as a high school student -- pretty challenging task, I thought.

He was apparently underrated, and it's sad that type-casting and over-commercialization probably denied him a more-satisfying life story.

I think this guy was in serious denial. He wasn't suffering from Dementia; he was suffering from end-stage liver failure associated with decades of severe alcoholism.

I agree. I’ve seen hepatic encephalopathy many times. Sure— it’s a type of dementia. But a (sadly) self-induced form. Tragic nonetheless.

RIP, David. When I was in 6th and 7th grade, no one was a bigger star among us teenybopper girls.

I have such mixed feelings. What a very complicated guy, who was just like his father.

At 22, when he released his Rock Me Baby album (22!!) he was already an old soul with a lot of edge. And incredible sensuality. His voice still thrills me.

He spent his life trying to shed his Keith Partridge personality. Well yep, he finally did. So sad.

I hope Danny wakes up and lives the rest of his life productive and helping others.
For years now, he has been the epitome of excessiveness.

So sad. I was in love with him as a 13/14/15 year old. Looking at pictures of him, he really didn't look bad until the last several years. I'm thinking his divorce, bankruptcy, forced sale of his house, etc. took a huge toll on him. RIP, David.

I grew up watching The Partridge Family and had a Partridge Family lunch box. A few years ago, my daughter and I watched several episodes of The Partridge Family. I was quite impressed with how charming, funny, and well-written the scripts were and how GREAT everyone was--especially David Cassidy. He really had the charisma, energy and intelligence about everything he said and how he said or behaved in every scene. Rest in peace, David Cassidy. Very sad for his family, friends, and fans.

Of course Shirley Jones is WONDERFUL. Oklahoma! and The Music Man are two of my very, very favorite movies of all time, and she is the incredibly talented star in both.
