Unless someone entered and exited the room via an air duct or somehow climbed up to his room and scaled back down from the outside, I don't know how he could have been murdered.
The door being unlocked to the adjoining room is very odd. But apparently there is no evidence of an intruder on hotel surveillance video in the hallway.
This is one of those things that will never feel right but we will also never have all the answers to.
