I know alot of people diss Sylvester Stallone. I personally am grateful for having him as an actor. He starred in one of my favorite movies of all time, Rocky. He contributed so much to film. He wrote Rocky, Cliffhanger and other movies. He was in my mind the best action hero we have ever seen. Take into consideration the guy did all the scenes in Cliffhanger when he was nearing fifty. He did his last Rocky film at 60. Sixty people. That is amazing for someone that age to do a boxing movie. He has earned my respect. You have to be hit a lot to make a boxing movie. You have to be in excellent shape. In the beginning he does some pullups. As someone who works out a lot. I find it difficult to do more than thirteen and I am in my mid thirties. The guy is a fitness freak. Kudos to him though. Say what ou want about Stallone. The guy has remained a proffessional throughout his career and I think he has made several solid movies.
Movies I really enjoyed from him.
First Blood
Rocky, Rocky 2, 3, 4, 6
CopLand
Rambo
Cobra
Cliffhanger
Assassins
Tango and Cash
and Over the Top. ( I know this one is considered real cheesy, but I enjoyed it..
As a fan of movies, I am grateful that such a person as Sylvester Stallone existed. He gave us many entertaining movies...
I know I will get a lot of flack for this one, but I am just keeping it real. For a man who likes men movies, Stallone kick's ass.
I agree, Stallone is the man! He's had more longevity and success at the box office than most actors could ever dream of. He's definitely my favorite action movie star of all time and I've enjoyed some of his other movies as well. My favs are:
-Rocky I, II, and III
-First Blood
-Rambo-First Blood part II
-Cliffhanger
-The Specialist
-Assassins
-Copland
-Nighthawks (a really old one with him and Rutger Hauer)
I thought he was fine for many of his roles and was a perfect choice for "Rocky".
But he also made a light-hearted comedy (chick flick) back in the 90's called "Oscar" and I thought he held his own very well with this radical change. I believe the movie bombed at the box office but it was quite funny.
Now that he's acquired more "character" with age, I can picture him in a Godfather-type movie now.
