I keep getting text messages that are explicit and harassing but I don't know who they are from. I tried calling the number but they just answer/hang up or say rude comments. They somehow know my name. Is there a way to block it? What can I do legally at this point? I'd like to use the full extent of the law if it is who I think it is...
Have you tried to deal with the police or the cell phone company? All we can offer here is a shoulder to cry on.
Cue Elvis: "lay your head upon my shoulder . . . "
If you are getting texts or calls from the same number, you can block them. If you are with Verizon it can be done on your My Verizon account. If with another company, call their customer service and they can explain it to you.

Really smart people don't text. They also delete unread any text they get.
I c/b wrong but I think there's privacy laws and the cell phone co. won't do anything, IOW they protect them. Not sure if blocking would work. Changing your # might be the answer.
There are privacy laws about your name and they do not give out your number but cell phone companies are not responsible for anything. Blocking does work for incoming texting and calls especially if you have the specific phone number.
This is an easy one. In an age when every call is on record right in your phone, you simply call the phone company AND the police and report the calls. Tell 'em you want to press charges and voila, it will be done. I've known many cases with multiple offenses in which only the phone harassment is provable and thus prosecutable.
And the OP is over a year old. I'm guessing the problem was resolved a long time ago...
