Will this bring in a good deal of money for the area?
To move the Yorktown from the area would be a bad thing. The area is known for the history and
that is a part of it. However, I do think that by lowering the admission to the ship might bring
in more visitors. There is a saying....."it is better to sell a lot for a little, then to sell a little for a lot"
You asked if it will bring a lot of money to the area. I'm sure that it will bring some.
While I enjoy going to Las Vegas, I'm not so excited about having casino gambling closer to home. If you look at the areas around the casinos in Atlantic City, Detroit, and even Las Vegas, the "economic boost to the area" never quite seemed to happen. However, you will find a great many "broken" people who have lost everything.
The casino boats in Little River and Savannah are close enough for me.

As someone who grew up in Atlantic City I can refute this statement as absolutely false.......
In the years before the casinos opened in Atlantic City the surrounding area was dieing a tortures death due in mostly to lose of revenue from continueing slacking tourist traffic.
In the years after Resorts International opened the first casino in AC, the area has seen a tremendous growth in population and revenue. The casinos brought thousands of jobs to AC and the surrounding counties. Everyone in the surrounding areas that were willing to work or owned property saw a great increase in property value and standard of living due to these jobs and the increase in tourist traffic.
OTC...have you ventured away from the boardwalk in AC in the last 20 years? The casino/hotels will even tell you that it is not safe to walk the streets. I've been there on business and on pleasure and once you leave the hotels you do so at your own risk.
Sure, AC was a deteriorating area before gambling came in, but you are certainly in the minority if you think that the casinos helped the area. The casinos helped the casinos.
The workers commute. They show up for work and then get the heck out of the area when they are done.
Are we talking about the same place? Atlantic City, New Jersey
