A general rule of thumb is the south side of 17 is more vulnerable and the flood insurance is much more expensive.

South side? Do you mean the East (Ocean) side of Rte 17?

Depends on where you live on the south/east side of 17. We're in Snee Farm and our flood insurance is about $350 a year. I would imagine folks living on the harbor in Old Village pay considerably more.

Not to be a pain here, but Snee Farm is encompassed entirely on the west side of 17.

If you look at a map you'll see that Rte 17, where we are, runs east and west roughly, that means either side of it is North or South. MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map

Better yet, stand at the intersection of 17 and Folly Rd with a compass pointing down Folly Rd. I think you'll see it points South and if you turn 180 degrees the other direction, you face North.

Maybe you've been relying a little too much on your GPS or the electromagnetic fields it's created has scrambled your brain and messed up your sense of direction. (Just kidding of course.)
