I'm moving to the Charleston area and want to know where the best, safest and nicest are to live for 30-40's female close to a beach. I have visited Charleston for decades and know the area. I'm most interested in Mt.Pleasant, Wild Dunes, Sullivan's Island or James Island. I'm moving from a city and want to be close to the beach. I hear Folly Beach no longer has public beaches open because of the erosion.

Check West Ashley too - very hip place. I've met several 30-40s people that live there.

What is your price range and are you renting or buying?

I've heard mixed opinions about West Ashley. I have family that lives in West Ashley and James Island. I'm looking to rent (apartment, condo, townhouse, or house) 2 bedroom or more for $1300 month maximum.

Folly Beach absolutely does have public access, just not down at the county park section.
MP is pretty family oriented, but the older part of town down around Shem Creek has a pretty lively young feel, plus the advantage of being close to the beach and downtown Charleston.

You could get into Long Grove, in Seaside Farms for at/under that amount monthly. That would put you in an ideal spot for Mt. Pleasant amenities (i.e. great restaurants, boutiques, services, and daily shopping all within walking distance), condo amenities, and yet you're less than 2 miles to IOP beach.

Default Sounds like me!

I too am considering a move and would like to make sure that the demographics are suitable. I am 42 and single and I am a DC native. Everything that this lady said regarding what she wants applies to me as well. Is it difficult to meet new people; both guys and girls? I dont have a pet but I probably would get a dog; is the area pet friendly? Lastly are any of the good areas for me pedestrian friendly? I would love to be able to walk everywhere. I am looking to rent at first and my max is 1500 a month for a 1BR...is this doable? OK one more thing I would like to on or near the water.
OK I hope I hear back from anyone
Chandler
