Would love some info on moving over there. The economy here in Ireland is very bad at the moment on top of endless bad weather!! With this in mind we are thinking of relocating to US. My husband is an American citizen and we are looking at a few different places at the moment. We have visited Charleston and loved it but from what I've been reading Summerville sounds great. How are the schools there? We have a 3 year old and a 14 year old and education is important. Also we would love a nice safe family environment. My hubby works in IT - so he will be looking for a job - what's the employment like? Maybe a commute to Charlotte wouldn't be out of the question if there wasn't much close by. We will be renting for a while before we buy so just wondering if there is an option to do that. Any and all info you guys have is appreciated
I would say, land the job first and then decide where to live. I've lived in New York, Florida and Summerville, SC. Schools are best in Summerville in my opinion. You have to make sure the home is in the Dorchester II school district because schools are by county here. Summerville is mostly in Dorchester County. I hope your husband is able to get a job in the Charleston area. Summerville is a real nice place to raise a family.
There's a ton of tech jobs here, that's what brought my husband and I here (of course, we are from South Carolina). I do agree with finding the job first, but according to my husband his company is always looking for IT people and programmers .
Red hair isn't really an Irish trait. I've been to Ireland and mostly saw people with brown or black hair. Some had reddish brown.
Now, to be fair, I have red hair AND I am half Irish but the two half nothing to do with one another. The particular shade of red on my noggin comes from my Swedish ancestry not my Celtic. It's a lighter Viking red as opposed to a deeper Celtic red.
I honestly have no clue where the red headed Irish myth comes from.
