Going down to Charleston for our second visit this weekend and I found a few new listings/neighborhoods...hoping someone can give me the low-down on the following neighborhoods:
**again, we are looking for areas where the properties have decent size lots, greenspace, etc.
Last time I was in Cassina Plantation on Winton Road there was at least one home that still had horses. Very lovely area, well established.
Back Bay is small in yard space compared to the huge & mostly elevated homes. Feels tight & they were not quick to sell when first built.
Cassina Heights has a few homes on the marsh/intracoastal at the back that went up more recently after one large farm like lot was sold & sub-divided.
All three are in great locations and have some great homes. Have friends who live in Ravens Run & Cassina and almost bought in Back Bay. Haven't seen any horses in Cassina lately.
My only concern -- traffic on Rifle Range. It is a very busy road. Making a left coming out of Back Bay or Cassina on to Rifle Range is rough during key commuting times. Rifle Range will only get busier.
If you have the time & energy to build -- Scott's Creek & Seaside Farms may have some good lots to build on. They have the similar traffic concerns. SHellpoint has a couple of homes for sale & is a lovely community. I like Watermark but it's not for everyone...more of the urban living in a suburban setting.
I'm partial to this area of Mt. Pleasant. It is so convenient to to Charleston, the beach, shopping, highways, etc.
Just thought of one more potential negative. It's a long way to Wando High School. We do it (Friday I did three return trips) but it is a little bit of an inconvenience.
Thanks everyone...I don't have an airplane...is it a prerequisite in Ravens Run? I guess it would get annoying listening to people taking off and landing!
Thanks moneill. You were typing as I was. I'll check out the other places you mentioned. We would more than likely do private for schools (still a haul though). It looks like it would be much more convenient to downtown than say, Dune West; and I like that some of these neighborhoods are smaller and older. I don't need/want a golf course, pool, etc in my neighborhood per se...
Definitely check out Shellpoint then. No pool -- well treed, custom homes. Timing was not great for us -- no homes available and we didn't want to wait six months to build -- but that would have been and is kind of still my first choice in that area.
Seaside Farms -- you have to travel to the very back of it -- homes/lots on the marsh for the nicer homes.

Did you mean Scott's Creek or Shellpoint? You hadn't meantioned that in your prior post...
Yeah I mentioned Shellpoint in the 'time to build' paragraph....Shellpoint and Watermark are right next to each other. The other side of the street from Back Bay and Cassina
