D.I looks like they will take what mt.pleasant and charleston dont want. Nice building though
They're just responding to the demand thats out there for walkable neighborhoods. Mt. P is the only place that has been fighting density. Charleston has been approving these types of structures all over the place, and since DI is part of Charleston its not surprising that this is being built. This is actually only one of two types of mixed use developments currently being built on DI alongside more office buildings. DI is really turning into a nice little city outside the city. If only there was a ferry between downtown and DI...
We've addressed this before but it seems it is appropriate to bring it up again. Daniel Island was undeveloped. Nobody grew up there. There is no history, no previous lifestyle. It is all new. No one is objecting to the 'changing' landscape -- because there was nothing to change. End of story.
And where was the proposed in Mt. Pleasant and refused?

If we can't get a parking garage, how would we be able to pull that big mixed use building off?
You didn't answer the question. The only development close to this concept was the Bouulevard -- and oops there it is.
There's Boulevard Phase 2 which seems to be in development hell.... it would add more parking spaces than apartments as well..... then there's the Atlantic.

People are complaining about Ferry Wharf near Patriots Point too. Right now about the height, but I'm sure they'll find something else about it to whine over once that gets hashed out. That place will be awesome if it gets built.
Ferry Wharf has been in the P&C a couple of times recently.
