For location yes, but not necessarily $/sqft.

Where are you going to be working OP? Not the business, but the address/intersection. The airport is a big area and recommendations may depend on exactly where you're headed.

Ha, good question. I'll be working at the Boeing 'IT Center of Excellence' if anyone knows where that is. They told me the address but I can't seem to find where I wrote it down. I think it's in the vicinity of the intersection of 526 and 642, though hopefully someone will correct me if that's incorrect. Thanks for the suggestions thus far!

Well, it's actually important because if it's off International Blvd. vs off Patriot Blvd, commute is a world of difference. Could you find out that nugget of info?

1 Bedroom at the Boulevard 1,200-1400.

It's expensive but it's a great location. Google maps says 20 minutes to the airport. Depending on what time you travel 526 I don't think it would take you 40, unless there was an accident. Good thing with Coleman Blvd....you can always take the long way round -- bit longer but hop on the bridge to 26 and poof you are at the airport.

There's 2BR rentals out there with 1000+ sqft in the heart of MP for around $1100ish.

I would never ever suggest apartments. They are rip offs.

I dislike commuting as well. I hope you can find a good apartment near-ish your job. Can Boeing help you with that - you'd think they have a list of recommendations? If you try something further out in West Ashley or Mt. Pleasant you may just want to rent for 6 months so if it's too much driving, you can just move.

They probably do. The Boeing folks I have met rent at Abberly Crossing. It's hard finding a nice place close to the airport, as the neighborhoods aren't spectacular.

Ok, good point. I will be at 3875 Faber Place in N Charleston, though this could change according to my HR person. But I suppose I should plan on this being the place. So near the intersection of 526 and Dorchester Rd.

Ahh, then I'd definitely consider West Ashley or the ones right off of Dorchester in North Charleston/SW Summerville. I can't speak for the West Ashley ones, but the ones off of Dorchester:

Silvana Oaks-North-charleston
The Legends at Charleston Park Apartments
Summerville Apartments | Avana at Wescott Plantation | Summerville, SC
Kilnsea Village Apts-Summerville

Most of Dorchester is 45. There are a lot of lights, and many cars, but it's a pretty peaceful drive. If there is an accident, things get backed up, but you can say that about any major road.

I'm unsure of the social aspect of the complexes. I know the Legends and Avana at Wescott are in very nice areas and everyone seems to be out and about all of the time. I'd be more inclined to meet people at work.
