Is there speculation Kmart #4593, located at 8571 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406-9208, may close in the near future?

Kmart #4593 opened originally as a Super Kmart Center, one of two stores I recall operating in South Carolina. (The other was in Spartanburg on East Blackstock Road at United States 29 and Interstate 26, now Best Buy and Lowe's.) Super Kmart Center stores were like Walmart Supercenter stores having a supermarket in the store and an automobile service center.

Kmart #4593 downgraded from a Super Kmart Center to a Kmart when the supermarket closed. The automobile service center closed, and is now Meineke Car Care Center.

One Kmart in South Carolina, Kmart #3645 in Easley, is closing in January.

Don't know about those two, but there is still one on Ladson Road in Summerville.

Yes but not a super Kmart. Totally a different feel.

Kmart in Mt. Pleasant is in the process of being torn down as we speak. They have put the fence up around the property and will probably be tearing down the building this week or next.

The former Kmart is being redeveloped as Bowman Place with Nordstrom Rack and Dick's Sporting Goods opening.

I think Winn Dixie had a store next to Kmart at one time.

Glad to hear that is still around. Used to shop there and go to the theater next door all the time.

Well, it used to be a Sears outlet store, but changed to K-Mart a few years ago.
