I thought I was paying too much for electric. We have SCG&E. For the past two months, we paid $280 and $260 respectively. We keep it on 76 degrees. We have a 3 year old home. 2300 square feet, 2 story home. After reading here, maybe we are not paying too much as I thought we are. I just hate paying these almost $300 a month electric bills. UGH!! $35 a quarter for pest control! Wow Who do you have? We are paying $86 a quarter with Home Team Pest. They have those taxx things on both sides of the house. We have only seen about 4 bugs inside the home since we lived here so I guess those things are doing the trick. This year we paid $275 for termite control. What a big ripoff! What do they do for the money? It's only another insurance scam.

Hi mikeb.

No, it's $35 a MOS but done quarterly for the pest treatment. We also have Home Team and also have those tubes.

I don't know what a termite bond is either.

As a Realtor I get a break for any clients I bring to Terminix and I think a termite bond is $650 for the original set up and ~$235 per year to maintain. That's with the bait stations. I just do my own interior bug control, spraying several strategic spots (thresholds, wall penetrations, etc) and it seems to work pretty well. I like the concept of the Taexx system but have never lived with one.

You don't have to have a termite bond. It's like any other insurance/service. If you want to inspect your own house every quarter, look for areas where wood is close to the ground, spray your own chemicals around the foundation, etc, you can have at it.
I didn't bother in Florida because my house was made of concrete block and I knew it would take a determined termite to make it to my roof trusses.

In my newly built homes in MTP and Lexington, the houses came with a Terminix Termite Bond as they had treated the house during the build. While I am not paranoid about it, I have kept bond up mainly for resale value. The recent yearly bill for the Lexington house was for $193.00.

As I was a bond buyer, Terminix offered a deal?????? to do quarterly pest control. I pay $50 per quarter for that.

Not at all. Did a full load study and leak test when the home was built. 2 units and a ducted mini split. Ours struggles to keep it at 78 when it's 99.

Guess I'm another one on the far end of the spectrum. Mine was just over $450 for this month.
