Nevermind, I am getting confused with the Purple Tree Lounge which I think was on Rivers Ave. Too long ago to remember all this stuff!

Pinehaven used to be the place to be in North Charleston before the Naval Base closed. There were a ton of great stores there.

With how far Citadel Mall has fallen, I remember when that mall had no vacancies and it was thriving. It was like that when I began this thread. So much has changed even since 2008/early 2009 here.

Ashley Ridge and Cane Bay were brand new, Boeing was a local council member's thought, and Johnny's Suzuki filled all the weekend open slots on 2, 4, and 5.

Pretty good trend with you starting it in 2008. Since you mentioned Festival of Ligths at the beginning of this trend being $5.00 to get in when it opened. I remember when Charles Town Landing opened and it was $1.00 for a car and free to bikes. Then it went to $5.00 per car and no bikes could be riden in so they could rent them. Have no idea how much it cost now. Before Hugo it was a much prettier park with lots more trees.
Also remember when SC 61 was two lanes from the downtown bridge all the way to Summerville. Should have bought some land back then huh?

And now they are talking about merging Fort Johnson and James Island middle schools.

Was Tri-State the overstock/salvage type store behind Pinehaven? If so I bought a set of 'long horn' cattle horns there. They were made in Mexico and smelled smokey like they had been in a fire. They were in my den for years. I liked that place. You never knew what you would find.

I also liked the Howard Johnson. On Fridays you could get all you could eat fried clams. Nice!

When did this come up?

I actually think the 4 elementary to two middle to one high school works pretty well on James Island.

It has been in works for a few months. They had four public hearings all over James Island discussing that. They plan to try and do that by 2020.

I was in the US Navy Submarine service in the mid-late 60's. Charleson was rocking. Spruill Ave, Reynolds Ave, Rivers Ave. Locker clubs, bars, women. I came back on business over the next few decades and saw much change. While Charleston improved drastically over the years, that area declined.

One of the finest vews of Charleston is approaching it from the sea, past Ft. Sumter, and looking up at the underside of the Grace Bridge. Knew we were home when we passed under that bridge.

Harder, Darter, Trigger and Trout. Always in....never our.
