I don't think that discouraging the tours is productive nor do I believe that all the carriage companies
are neglectful. These animals are meant to be work animals. But that does not forgive the fact that if
you mistreat them, you pay the piper.
Those poor horses always look so sad, tired, and worn out to me that I couldn't bring myself to take a tour even if I wanted to. It's nice to see that someone is looking out for their well-being.
I would prefer to see the old-fashioned open-air trolley cars like they have at Virginia Beach and San Francisco over all the horse and carriages in Charleston.
