Hold ups on the project revolve around traffic concerns and access to the property. The center would be located across the street from Southridge Center (Walmart,Sam's/Cabella's/etc...) and beside Dudley Farms Plaza (Khol's/Books-a-million/Office Max/etc...).
The proposal had chains listed such as Whole Foods, Old Navy, Starbucks, Sheetz, and others. But no announcements or confirmations for any of those brands have been made.
If they can figure out a solution to the traffic issue, then this will be a very nice development for the city. And if Whole Foods locates here (which again there has been no confirmation of that), that would be awesome.
Wow, that sounds like it could be a nice development and bring in new chains to the area. Hopefully the traffic congestion can be alleviated. A connector from Davis Creek Road exit needs to be built to connect to MacCorkle Avenue near the interstate I-64 exchange.

I don't know if you are already aware, but that has been talked about. Making Jefferson Road an access road with direct connection to 64 is a need. That would also open up land for development on the other side of Kanawha Turnpike from the Tech Park.
Anyways, this area of Charleston will continue to grow as a regional retail hub, and the effect of it will spill off over into other retail areas in the city (Kanawha City, Cross Lanes)
I can't imagine how they think more traffic at Southridge is a good idea.
That being said, there was talk at one time about building an exit from the ice arena to come out on Jefferson road near the 90 degree turn where Penske rental and the old Computers Plus building are located.
Another idea was an overhead connector from Jefferson Road at the railroad tracts to the Interstate 64 highway where the eastbound Exit 54 ramp is located.
Traffic at Southridge and on Jefferson Road are both problems that need to be addressed.
