When you're driven what corridor feels more ''connected'' I-85 or I-20/I-77. What area has the better chance to become one region?

I-85(Atlanta, Charlotte, Greenville)

I-77/I-20(Columbia, Augusta, Charlotte)

On my trips to Charlotte, Augusta/Charlotte/Columbia are starting to seem more and more connected.

The I-85 corridor is more connected, and this is no contest.

I feel the historic tie of the I-85 corridor is real strong and that Charlotte,Greenville, Atlanta is stronger. However, I do agree that the I-77 corridor is getting stronger and more connected. IMO, I prefer driving down 777 than 85, it gives me a better view of the Charlotte skyline although I have not gone through the whole corridor as the OP has suggested but just Charlotte and Columbia.

I am thinking over time both will be connected to each other.

The I-85 corridor is much more than just Atlanta-Charlotte-Greenville...add Columbus on one end and Greensboro/High Point and Durham on the other. Also Atlanta is actually part of both corridors.

This is really not much of a comparison.

Last time I drove down 85, Columbus didn't seem connected to I-85... I guess because you have to access it through I-185.

It slipped my mind Atlanta was apart of the I-77/I-20 corridor as well. I guess I saw the I-77 part and overlooked the other interstate. I also agree with a previous poster who said they both will eventuallu be tied together...if not already.

But I-20 between Atlanta and Augusta is desolate to the point that I cry when I drive it. It even pases through Taliaferro County, the least-populous county in Georgia. It'll be a while before there's even a remote level of "tying" between Atlanta and Augusta.

Well the tying would be not in continuous population but more connections. Also for desolate stretches the I-16 corridor is very remote. It looks like they designed it to go 5-10 miles from any town so there are almost no services. That is in sharp contrast to the entire I-75 corridor.

I wouldn't call I-20 between AUG & ATL desolate.... Especially if you mean from city to city. There's Dekalb (750k), Columbia (113k), Newton (100k), Walton (88k), Rockdale (85k), Mcduffie (22k), Morgan (19k), and Greene(15k) counties between Fulton and Richmond County..

There's over 1.2 million people living between the cities of Augusta and Atlanta....

Between Newton & Walton(metro ATL) and Mcduffie(metro AUG)... There's Morgan, Greene, Taliaferro, and Warren counties. A population of over 40k...
