I live on the East End of Charleston. Not a great area but it’s usually fairly peaceful. The home I rent would be condemned if it was inspected but it’s all I have. The landlord never repairs anything and over time, the place has really deteriorated. In the last few years my neighbors have both moved away & the homes they occupied have never been filled. Naturally the homeless took over both structures. The same landlord didn’t do a very good job of boarding them up. Recently there were fires that pretty much ruined one house. Now the landlord wants to bulldoze all the homes he owns on the street, including mine.
I’d love to find a small home that was clean and reasonably modern. My mother stays with me now and I want her taken care of. This is the 2nd time she’s gone through this. Years ago, the nice home she rented was sold because a friend of that landlord wanted the building for one of his friends! I’m trying to find something that could be rent, rent to own, or even buy. Everything is either expensive or horribly run down. I’d like to stay near downtown Charleston, Kanawha city , or a decent section of the west side. Any ideas?
