My dad is moving down here and we are looking at new home communities for him. Is the area around the white water center nice? I have never been in that general area.

It's more of a rural area, and I wouldn't consider any of the newer home communities around it to be particularly "nice", but it's not necessarily a bad area. If you're looking on that side of town, you might want to check out some of the neighborhoods in Steele Creek.

The last time I was over that way there were a lot of foreclosures in the subdivision I was visiting. Be careful.

Close to WWC (10 minutes) you should look in Coulwood (older, well established neighborhood with some young families and older couples and NO HOA but well kept). A WELL kept secret in Charlotte.
Right near the WWC I would avoid.
