well I spend a considerable amount of time in those locales and I don't notice the same thing.
I see the ed hardy/affliction dbag knuckleheads uptown. And everyone else is wearing black button downs.
I don't care to bandy the merits of a 'wannabe' designation, but the areas I listed are certainly the "edgy" parts of town. I mean what else is even on the radar? maybe southend by the skate shop and art galleries and trolley museum... maybe West Morehead by the bike shop... maybe some areas of Dilworth... but NOT SouthPark!
No, I definitely agree w/you. It's a tough one, b/c I don't think we have a decent sized crowd of who the OP wants. At least not outside of high schools.
SnowWhiteQueen, you just need to get the trend going!
It seems like everyone I meet in CLT who is my age (early 30s) is a banker or at least the preppy yuppy type. Where do the edgy people (alternative, artsy, creative people who wear black and have a great sense of style) hang out? I have yet to find them!
I have run into this problem as well. I miss my west coast people

So preppy types can't be creative and artsy?
Only people who wear black have a 'great sense of style'?
You might make more friends if you weren't so quick to exclude others based on their clothing.
That's not what I am saying at all mullman...Almost all of my friends in Charlotte are preppy and I love them dearly but I miss hanging out with artsy and creative people who enjoy eclectic fashion and shopping for different styles and who love to make art a part of their life. It's who they are. I agree preppy people can be creative and artistic but seriously how often do you find preppy people at an underground music venue or something? I will admit khakis and polo shirts and Banana Republic and Abercrombie are NOT my style! I just miss being around my edgy, eccentric, creative friends and was hoping there would be people like that here too.

Some of them will be working in the TV stations. Figure out how to get in & you'll see them.
I know this because I worked as a broadcast tech for 20 years & graduated from Philadelphia College of Art. I am probably what you're looking for, just older than you want to hang out with.
