My homeowner's insurance wasn't bad at all. Our home owner's taxes were high, but we didn't have to pay property tax on our vehicles..

Thank you for all your responses. One more thing, what would be nice neighborhood to live in (decent area, nice houses, and safe, and not to far from everything)? Me and my wife are in our 30s and our baby is 10 months old

It would totally depend on where your job is located, your housing price range, and preference of local activities. Charlotte is very spread out.

That would depend on where you are going to work. It could be like working in Kendall, and living in Coral Springs, if you're not careful...

my job will be in south park, my house range would be between 300k and 350k and local activities are family oriented/outdoors

You'll probably want to look at South Charlotte, Ballantyne, Fort Mill (SC), and possibly Waxhaw/Marvin areas. They are the most crowded areas of Charlotte, but they will keep you close to work, have plenty of homes within your price range, and tons of family oriented activities. There's nothing but families in those areas.

Why not look at Southpark neighborhoods?

Ballantyne (Johnston Rd and I-485 intersection) is probably 25-30 mins from uptown, even with light traffic. Ft. Mill is likely the same. Waxhaw/Marvin is even further, figure 40 mins.

Southpark would put you uptown in 15 mins, probably. Maybe less. Mapquest it.
