Too many variables to answer intelligently........size of home, cost of structures, construction material (brick vs siding), distance from nearest fire hydrant. Lots of questions to answer first.

I am also trying to get a quote for home owner's insurance. you may want to check the company with whom you have your car insurance.

$600K, fire hydrant right out front on corner of lot, all brick construction, $1K deductible.... $617/yr through Nationwide

jp - you can do the umbrellas where you have all your coverage with the same company and you get discounts, it usually saves a good amount of money. We used to do this with state farm.

Just got quoted $1200 / yr with a $1000 deductable by Allstate (I am a current customer).

320k home value

year built 1965 (which is why they said it is a higher cost to insure)

Seem high to anyone?

I dont think its high for a home that old and at that price. It may have all the old wiring and likely doesn't have the current required amount of electrical outlets in each room and all those details. But definitely call around if it seems high. Try Liberty Mutual.

yes, seems high - got a quote of 800 for 700K home in union.


did you use allstate.com for the quote?
