We are looking into relocating from South Florida to the Charlotte area. I like how Briarcrest looks on paper but we want to see it in person. We are coming up the 1st week of August. How is Western Union Elementary School? I have 3 year old twins and a 6 month old. We have to look into schools now because the private school in our area is 20K a year for the 3 to attend. College is less than that!!!!!!! The public school system here is not great!

Any help would be great, thanks!

You may have better luck posting this in the Charlotte forum, but I would check the NC school report card site for comparative reports on schools:
NC School Report Cards
I would also suggest contacting a buyers agent -- for help not only if you decide to purchase in Briarcrest but also they may be able to suggest other possibilities as well. Best of luck to you

Hi, you mentioned moving to the Charlotte area, the only Western Union Elem that I know of is in Union County,Waxhaw, NC. which is the next county over. We actually moved to this area from Charlotte because of the schools. Western Union is a wonderful school, my child attended from K-5 ('00-0'5). We loved it, the teachers were terrific, the principal (unfortunately now retired) was terrific, just a great experience. Never had a problem. It is an older school and alot of the staff at the time had been there for many years. Hope this helps.

We are considering Briarcrest and I believe it is going to New Town Elem. Parkwood Middle and HS. Tuscany is right down the road and I heard the rumors it would be attending Weddington in the future. The UCPS has district maps you can look at. I would be curious myself whats going to happen down the road. Does the new school on Cuthberston change Briarcrest and Tuscany? The way redistricting happens there who knows where they will wind up, its right in the middle of Parkwood,Weddington and the proposed Cuthberston. Its one of the reasons Briarcrest is not on the top of my list.
