I just want to know if anyone has moved from Richmond to the Charlotte area, and if they would ever think about going back to RIC?

Hi there and Welcome to Charlotte! I was born and raised in Fredericksburg Va. I've been to Richmond alot since Fredericksburg used to be a small town and had zero things there so we had to drive to Richmond for everything. I honestly did get homesick alot at first for Virginia but now that I've been here for going on 2 years I doubt I'll ever live in Virginia again. Charlotte is so much more cleaner and nicer compared to Richmond for one. There's more to do, cheaper real estate (so far but it's rising) and in my opinion theres more oppurtunity. I do go back to Virginia several times a year to visit family but in all honesty I can't wait to come back to Charlotte. If you ever have any questions or need any help, please feel free to pm me. Good Luck!

We moved to Charlotte from Richmond in 2002. My husband had to drag me down kicking and screaming as they say. Then I got to know Charlotte and loved it. Charlotte is CLEAN, friendly and has a wonderful uptown. Eventually we had to move back to Richmond and it's been a tough adjustment. I think the quality of life in Charlotte is so much better and it's just a more pleasant place to live, no doubt about it. For me having grown up in Richmond, the only thing other than my husband's work that keeps me here is family. I would move back in a heartbeat!
