I'm new to Charlotte and already love the city, but I'm missing a good restaurant family business style, that is not trendy or overpriced... Just good food and friendly faces
I'd apreciate suggestions on some best kept secret restaurants!
Thank you all!

Not that these are very secret, but you should definitely visit them!
Mac's Speedshop (on South Blvd near Remount Rd for great brisket and barbeque)
The Penguin (just off Central Ave near uptown - great hamburgers, interesting folks)
Dish - great homecooking (near the Penguin), Miss Penny's menu is made up of her childhood favorites.
I tried Open Kitchen once. It should not be called Italian. It should be called "somebody opened a jar of ragu and dumped it on some cheap store bought noodles".
Thats too bad Groove. I have gone several times and enjoyed it.. It's no Bravo, but for $9 and unlimited sweet tea.
