I too, am anticipating a move to the area. I'm clueless though we have looked at a few places on-line in Belmont.

Belmont is a very cute town but definitely southern. If you're offended by southern accents and sweet tea, that's not the place for you. It's mostly Charlotte natives unlike other areas like Ballantine and lake Norman. I'm a local so I love that it's still a polite quiet southern town where strangers wave and strike up conversation in the line at the grocery store with random strangers. It's not the most diverse town (again a matter of preference). If you're looking to be in the middle of shopping and easy access to strip malls and shopping you won't find that here. Belmont prides itself on its local shops and businesses, and a drive to the Walmart or the nearest mall is 20 minutes. But it's all about what you're looking for. If you want quiet, polite, well kept, Mayberry-Esque vibe, it's the place to be. Be advised that the property taxes are probably the highest in the Charlotte area. I pay over $3k on a $230k valuation.

I've lived in Belmont before and loved it! Moved only because of a job situation in another suburb at the time. Great town, my favorite in the Charlotte area. Would highly recommend.
