I'm coming into Charlotte for a conference downtown. Hotel (no courtesy transport) is near Convention Center. How can I get from the airport cheaply? Some of the shuttles are posting $75 for the trip-yikes!

Take a cab -- it's a flat fee. $25 I think, last time I checked.

Anyone that tries to charge $75 is ripping you off big time. I've gone from the airport to Matthews (farther than downtown) for less than that. Pricing info from the airport: Charlotte Douglas International Airport,Ground Transportation, Taxis, Charlotte, NC

There is also a bus - the Airport Sprinter - that runs from the airport to the transportation center, which is a few blocks from the convention center. In spite of it's name, it is a local route, and does make stops along the way.

Definitely take the Sprinter, $1.75 each way, about 15-20 minutes to downtown (maybe 5 minutes less than a cab would take). Get off at the stop between Tryon and College and walk 5 minutes to your hotel. The CATS website has schedules so you can see when it's running versus when you expect to arrive/get bags. The bus stop is the last exit on the far right of baggage claim, then cross the street, and it's about 25 yards to your right.

the bus runs every 20 minutes $1.75. It makes one stop during route.
