I am looking to 'dress' my living and dining room windows before the holidays. I would like something nicer than Bed Bath and Beyond, but don't want to have to take out a second mortgage!
Any suggestions on where to shop or how to get custom draperies without breaking the bank?

Thank You : ) I'll check them out. I did go to Penny's and liked some of the custom fabrics, but couldn't seem to get any help.
I went to Black Lion yesterday and found some "semi" custom drapes and am waiting for the lady to call back.
I'm not sure why, but I'm intimidated by these windows! I like the idea of having someone come here and tell me what to do.

Here's an idea for you, Doorway. I've seen it in Philly & South Jersey as well as the Baltimore area. If it's not done exactly like this here, I'm betting that there is something similar done.

Hang Quaker Lace curtains at the window. Quaker Lace is a brand, so substitute if necessary. Over that, hang a heavier drape to coordinate with the room. They should have a good sturdy lining. Keep the drapes drawn in the summer to block the sun. Keep them open the rest of the year & draw the lace curtains to give some privacy but they allow the sun in to provide free warmth.

Just a thought for you.

My mom used Penney's years ago & was very happy with them.

Thanks Southbound. It's nice to 'see' you again. I like that idea as I don't really need the drapes for privacy, they are just to finsh off the rooms.

MTNesters, thank you for that tip. I'll take a ride there and see what they have. I appreciate all the suggestions above.
