There is a nice Marriot Hotel not too far from the airport:
Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel: Charlotte Distinctive Hotels

There are a few decent restaurants nearby - Jocks and Jills, Salsaritas, and a few other restaurants in the same strip as Salsaritas.

People that visit our office near the hotel stay there and it is a nice place. The airport is probably 10 minutes away at the most.

The Cracker Barrel near the airport is decent as they all are. But I've only been to it during the day. There's a reason why some of the motels have razor wire along the top of the fencing surrounding the parking lots. I would think that the downtown hotels would have shuttles going to the airport. Does anyone know for sure?
