Agree. They are so salty I can't eat them.

Probably not what you want to hear, but the soups at Olive Garden aren't half bad. They even have pasta fagioli, although it's not like real Italian Americans make it, and the waitstaff don't pronounce it correctly.

All Thai and Vietnamese restaurants have great soups and they make up the whole meal.

I like the Zuppa Toscana best, but haven't tried the gnocchi soup.

People give Olive Garden a hard time. Maybe they try too hard to present themselves as premium authentic Italian food, which I suppose they're not. Sure, there are better places to eat. But I think OG is a good value, consistent, with a lot of options.

For me, I like pasta fagoli (pronounced FAH ZOOL) which is an italian soup...

Not every place has it and can make it right.....
Giacomo's on Mallard Creek Church Road makes a great pasta fagioli. Same guy who ran Carlo's on N. Tryon for years.

Amelie's makes an outstanding Spinach, Asparagus Leak

Vietnam Grille on South between Archdale and Tyvola makes an outstanding Chicken Noodle Pho with HUGE portions and great spices to add to the meal.

There used to be a Soup Man franchise in the Hearst Tower (the guy that the Seinfeld Soup Nazi character was based on). But I haven't been there since 08 so don't know if he's still there.

That's been closed for a long time now. They posted a sign saying they were closing for the summer in 2010, but they never reopened. I think the space is still vacant.
