Some changes have been announced, in response to making the event better for crowd control:

People attending the festival will notice the entertainment stages have moved because of the construction in uptown this year.

The Miller Light stage will be found at the corner of South Tryon and East Stonewall streets.

The Cheerios stage and children's activities will be on South Tryon near Fourth Street.

I'm surprised they didn't just move it over to the Music Factory like they did for the BBB festival.

I think the idea was to move the event to make the NASCAR Hall of Fame part of the territory.

Although that would be a good strategy--to include the HoF-- it appears this was done in response to the shooting last year and to make it easier for law enforcement to manage the crowds.

I honestly don't see why they just don't move it up to the speedway area. Like have it at the Z-max dragway.

because I wouldn't go and I'm sure 50% of Charlotte wouldn't go up there as well. The HOF is hurting for attendance and this is a great way to get locals into the HOF.

I think the whole point of Speed Street is to get the race fans to come into town for a bit, not to keep them up at the speedway.

I don't like racing at all, but love speed street. If it moved we wouldn't go. Right now it is convenient to get on the light rail.
