I officially belong to University Park Baptist Church, since 2007, but have been attending Elevation for about 8 months. Biship T.D. Jakes was at Elevation 14 weeks ago and also, 3 weeks ago. See Elevation Sermon, #2 on Waiting Room; he has come back to give a great sermon.

Okay, I grew up a baptist in a mega church in Brooklyn (Bethany Baptist Church; senior youth usher leader); also attened Creflo Dollar Ministries in NYC. I do like Univeristy Baptist Church, but was looking to a Saturday service that was God inspriring and Elevation met the requirements. I am still not-gung ho on the singing as yet. I attend the Matthews service. As long, as I get the word, the singing is not what breaks me.

I like the word Bapticostal. My grandma's Baptist church has become a lot more Pentecostal than Baptist with the new pastor.

From what I hear you can go to church - but not racially integrated dance clubs.

Good luck! (And try starting a new thread next time)

I have a question. I am looking for a black church that has an active senior ministry, my Mom is 75 and has relocated to Charlotte, she is not into the non demoninationals. She likes the traditional chruch with choirs, ushers and such....

Pretty much any of the more traditional Baptist churches will work: Friendship, St. Paul, St. Luke, Greater Galilee, Mayfield Memorial, etc. Charlotte is also home to a lot of AME Zion churches; some of those should work as well.
